Limits

• AI model spend: $5 a month$5 of free AI Gateway credit each month

• Every Vercel team gets $5 of credit a month. The free credit starts on your first request.
• Only a subset of models can use the free credit. Rate limits are lower than on the paid tier, and going over returns a 429 error.
• BYOK (bring your own provider key) is not available on the free tier.
• Buying credits moves your team to the paid tier, and the monthly free credit no longer applies.
• Vercel's Hobby plan is for personal, non-commercial projects. Use a Pro team for a commercial product.

Bills for extra usage

• You buy AI Gateway Credits and requests deduct from the balance. There is no commitment and no platform fee on tokens: you pay the model provider's list price.
• You are responsible for payment processing fees on credit purchases. The page does not state a rate. Enterprise teams can pay by invoice with no processing fee.
• BYOK is available on the paid tier with no markup or fee, but you still need purchased credits. If a BYOK request fails, the retry with Vercel's keys is charged to your credits.
• Optional add-ons cost extra and are off by default: custom reporting ($0.075 per 1,000 tag writes), team-wide provider allowlist ($0.10 per 1,000 requests) and trace drains ($0.05 per 1,000 traces).
• Custom volume discounts on token spend are available.
