Runs a function when something calls it and bills per request and per second of memory used. Every account gets a free monthly allowance.

Every plan below was checked against AWS Lambda's own pages on . Prices in USD.

Usage pricing
  • Function requests: $0.2 per 1M requests (above 1M requests)
  • Function compute: $0.0000166667 per GB-second (above 400K GB-seconds, up to 6B GB-seconds)
  • Function compute: $0.000015 per GB-second (above 6B GB-seconds, up to 15B GB-seconds)
  • Function compute: $0.0000133334 per GB-second (above 15B GB-seconds)
  • The free tier is part of every pay-as-you-go account: 1 million requests and 400,000 GB-seconds a month, as stated on the Lambda pricing page. It is an allowance on the same account, not a separate plan.
  • Prices are for event functions on x86 in US East (N. Virginia). Arm functions are cheaper per GB-second ($0.0000133334 for the first 7.5 billion GB-seconds).
  • A GB-second is one gigabyte of function memory running for one second, so memory size and run time both change the bill.
  • The free tier does not apply to functions that use Provisioned Concurrency.
  • Data transfer out to the internet, extra ephemeral storage and other add-ons are billed separately and are not in this estimate.

Works well with

  • Amazon S3Lambda can run code whenever something changes in an S3 bucket.
  • Amazon SQSLambda can process messages from an SQS queue automatically.
